Tame - Lacking in excitement; dull, spiritless, not to be taken very seriously; without real power or importance. To be deprived of courage or interest or excitement!
Untamed - The opposite!
One of the most critical things that we forget, as Christians, is how deeply in love God is with us!
His love for us cannot be contained!
Ephesian 3:18-19 - “And may you have the power to understand, as all Gods people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully.”
Christ’s love for us is untamed! It cannot be stopped or even understood. We also forget that God is passionate about his relationship with us.
Exodus 34:14 - “You must worship no other gods, but only the Lord, for He is a God who is passionate about His relationship with you.”
We serve a God who loves us so much and is passionate about us. What if we as Christians began to love Him the same way and pursue him with passion the same way He pursues us? What would the world begin to look like? What if we became untamed in a relentless pursuit of God?
To be untamed for God means that our love for Him, and other people, cannot be controlled!
What if we actually began to take a stand for our belief in Jesus Christ? The Bible describes a tame life as being “lukewarm.” We attend church, are nice to people because we are suppose to be, and do things because “it's the right thing to do,” yet most of the time the world sees no difference in us as believers because we are not untamed in showing the real love of Christ. We live in a “comfort zone” and want God to be a part of our life, but only when it's convenient for us. We forget that the God of the universe is infinitely more powerful than us, but we have access to that power. The world is in need of someone who is untamed in their relationship with God, not in an obnoxious, overbearing or prideful way, but in a way that reveals the very truth of God. One of the biggest reasons people come to know Christ, is because they see real faith in other people’s lives. I came to know Christ because my mom and dad lived Jesus in front of me. I wanted what they had. Everybody's soul longs for what is right and good because we all were created in the image of God. So, what if we didn't just ask God to be a “part” of our life but to be our life! What if we became untamed in our relationship with God?
What if we went a little crazy, out of our minds, for the sake of Christ! Check it:
2 Cor 5:13 - “If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit!”
Revelation 3:16 - “But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!”
Lukewarm water makes a disgusting drink. The church in Laodicea had become lukewarm and thus distasteful. The believers didn't take a stand for anything; indifference had led to idleness. By neglecting to do anything for Christ, the church had become hardened and self-satisfied, and it was destroying itself. There is nothing more disgusting than a half-hearted, nominal Christian, who is self-sufficient. Don't settle for God, halfway. Let an untamed passion for Christ fire up your faith and motivate you to action!
